The TREMEC T-5 is designed to operate exclusively with high-quality Dexron III / Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Do not use heavy gear oil or synthetic gear lubricants in the T-5, as these heavy weights can impede the operation of the carbon-fiber and brass synchronizer rings, leading to hard shifting and premature wear. After the break-in period, we recommend Synchromesh.
We get some form of this question all the time, but there are no exceptions to this rule! First, failure to measure and correct your bellhousing runout will void your warranty with both TREMEC and SST. Second, the tolerance is .005”; that’s about the width of a dollar bill!
